Things My Husband Taught Me

In our 18 years together, my husband Herb taught me many things about living and loving life. Here are some of the most important things I learned to do because of him.

Create family traditions.

Dress well.

Enjoy good food, preferably with good friends.

Enjoy good wine.

Learn to cook.

Sing.

Dance.

Embrace the weird.

Especially when you ARE the weird.

Exercise.

Support your kids in whatever they do,
and let them know you're proud of them.

Hold the baby. Anybody's baby.

Show appreciation to people who help you.

Enjoy a good cocktail now and then.

Teach what you know to others.

Try things that are a little dangerous and scary.
Do them with your kids.

Look for beautiful places, and share them with those you love.

Appreciate the arts.

Wear hats. Men in hats look classy.

Everyone does, really.

See the world. Show it to your kids.

Play in puddles.

Be reverent.

Spend time with your family. ALL your family.

Maintain longtime friendships.

Whenever you have a chance to go on a boat, go on a boat.

Eat the ice cream.

Enjoy the outdoors.

Look at nature. REALLY look at it.

Don't be afraid to look silly now and then.

Know when to stop talking and listen.

And when to just sit and enjoy what's around you.

Kiss your sweetheart at every opportunity.
