Spring 2025 Fashions for Men

Another request from my husband (who is a big fan of my blog, especially my fashion blogs): How about an entry on men's fashion for spring? I'll be the first to admit that I'm not as much of a fashionista when it comes to men's clothing, but I do know what I like, I know what works, and I love researching current trends and styles. So here are some recommendations for men's clothing for spring 2025!

Pastels and subtle patterns and textures are both big in men's fashion this spring, and this Perry Ellis line print short sleeve linen and cotton button-up shirt ($35 at Nordstrom Rack) in cashmere blue is a great example. The subtle leaf print adds texture and visual interest but is still classy enough for the office. Wear tucked in with navy dress pants and a black leather belt and black dress shoes for the office or untucked with relaxed jeans or linen shorts and comfortable canvas loafers for a casual evening at home.
Pro tip: Navy pants call for a black belt and shoes, never brown, although tan is okay for casual wear - but shoes and belt should always match.

If your job (or social life) calls for a business suit, go for something like this Braveman classic fit 3-piece suit ($170 at Nordstrom Rack) in indigo (shown) or grey. Wear it with a good quality white dress shirt and a pastel tie and pocket square, along with the black belt and dress shoes above.
Pro tip: With a two button suit, the top button stays buttoned except when seated, and the lower button is never buttoned

A lightweight cotton sweater, like this Jos. A. Bank Pima cotton v-neck sweater ($40 at Jos. A. Bank) in imperial palace is a great way to add some spring color to your wardrobe. Wear over a crewneck tee in white or a shade darker than the sweater, with straight-leg jeans or light-colored relaxed fit pants

Plaids are in this spring, like this Polo Ralph Lauren classic fit plaid oxford shirt ($70 at Ralph Lauren) in blue multi. Instead of the navy or black pants you'd wear it with in winter, pair with light tan or light gray pants for spring. A navy sport coat will work with either color pants, and add a plain navy necktie with the tan pants or a charcoal gray necktie with the gray pants. It would also look great under a gray-blue v-neck sweater, with or without a necktie, depending on the occasion.

Casual pants this spring are trending toward a more relaxed fit, and cargo pants like this Real Good AE relaxed cargo pant ($60 at American Eagle) in khaki are very popular. This super-casual look calls for sporty shoes like sneakers, and a pullover jersey or a classic Henley in a lighter color

Another great look for this spring is the camp sweater, like this short sleeve camp sweater ($31 at Old Navy) in multi stripe. Wear buttoned or open over a crewneck tee with flat-front pants in a darker khaki and a pair of suede slip-on loafers

Combine the trends of softer colors and subtle patterns in this Antigua spring 2025 short sleeve polo shirt ($50 at JC Penney) in cascade heather. Wear untucked with navy or tan shorts and classy slip-on loafers.

Bring some lightness to your office wear with this OppoSuits magic mint button-up shirt ($35 at Nordstrom) in teal/mint. Tuck it in and top with a tan sport coat and brown oxfords and brown leather belt, then make it do double-duty after hours untucked with rolled-up cuffs and a pair of straight leg chinos and old school Chuck Taylors or canvas Sperrys

Given the unpredictability of spring weather (at least at my home in New England), a versatile spring jacket, like this classic squall waterproof insulated jacket ($88 at Lands' End) in champagne is a must in every man's spring wardrobe. It adds warmth, rain protection, and wind protection for unexpected weather changes. Wear over anything short of a suit, and add a sturdy rain hat and waterproof boots for all-weather protection.

If you're the outdoorsy type, but not quite a hardcore hiker, invest in these Rockport Ronan step-activated casual lace-up boots ($100 at Rockport) for your spring hikes. Fun fact: I own a pair of Rockport hiking shoes that are nearly 35 years old and still going strong! (Admittedly, I only wear them a few times a year, but still.) So that $100 is a great investment in a classic hiking boot. Wear with moisture-wicking wool socksconvertible hiking pants and a breathable jersey with UPF 30+ sun protection

There's no reason the guys can't be as stylish as the gals this spring!
