Yesterday I blogged about wearable Spring 2025 clothes that were inspired by the fashions on the catwalk at New York Fashion Week in September 2024. Today, I'm just browsing the "new arrivals" pages of my favorite (brick-and-mortar and online) women's clothing stores. Here are some of the new spring fashions that I love - plus some ideas of how to put pieces and accessories together!
The Piece To Start With: Sleeveless Wrap Dress
Wear this wrap dress with a cardigan or jacket and a pair of ballet flats or low heels for work; add a chunky necklace, sparkly earrings, and strappy heels for a night out. This dress calls for a small wristlet instead of a full-sized purse.
What to Add:
--------------------
The Piece To Start With: Strappy Sundress
This sleeveless floral dress is comfortable enough for lounging around but classy enough for work (add a cardigan or jacket and sensible pumps) or an evening out (add a short necklace, scarf, or wrap, and strappy sandals). Carry a hobo bag to work or a small clutch for a dressier event.
What to Add:
The Piece to Start With: Colorful Minidress
This brightly colored minidress would be great as a beach coverup or on a casual outing. Wear with flat sandals or even a pair of slip-on canvas sneakers. And don't forget a cute tote bag to go with it!
What to Add:
--------------------
The Piece to Start With: Floral Maxi Dress
Add a cropped jacket or sweater to this relaxed maxi dress for work or an elegant wrap for an afternoon wedding. A small ivory handbag is a nice touch for either occasion, as is a pair of beige slingbacks and, of course, a strand or two of pearls.
What to Add:
Luxe Wrap ($25 from White House Black Market)
The Piece to Start With: Sleeveless Sheath Dress
Top with a cardigan, cropped shrug, or the matching
Open-Front Floral Jacquard Topper Jacket ($159). Low heels and a leather tote for the office or higher, more stylish heels, a long pendant necklace, and a fancy clutch finishes the look.
What to Add:
--------------------
The Piece to Start With: Sleeveless Trench Coatdress
Wear with a cute pair of flat sandals or kitten heels, chunky earrings, and add a splash of color with a great crossbody bag.
What to Add:
--------------------
The Piece to Start With: Rose Printed Blouse
Designed to wear untucked, this rose printed top looks great over skinny pants with casual slip-on shoes or a column skirt and eye-catching slingbacks. Finish off with simple hoop earrings and a classy leather crossbody bag.
What to Add:
The Piece to Start With: Floral Blouse
This loose, floaty top is pretty on its own or layered over a tee or cami. Pairs with any casual bottom, from jeans to capris to slim-fit skirts of any length. Definitely calls for a hippie-esque hobo bag, leather choker, and casual shoes.
What to Add:
The Piece to Start With: Sleeveless Wrap Top
Pair with dress pants or a pencil skirt and low heels for work, with a full maxi skirt and cute sandals for dinner out, or with walking shorts or a skort with comfy sneakers for casual wear. Don't forget big geometric earrings and bangles and a cute handbag.
What to Add:
The Piece to Start With: Floral Print Halter
Pair this cute halter with shorts, capri pants, or a knee-length skirt, comfortable shoes, and a casual tote bag. The only jewelry needed is simple gold hoop earrings to echo the neckline of the halter.
What to Add:
The Piece to Start With: Johnny Collar Blouse
This lightweight pull-on top can be worn tucked or untucked, over slim or flared pants, but it's especially cute with skinny jeans and ballet flats or kitten heels, a small wristlet purse, and stud earrings.
What to Add:
The Piece to Start With: Pointelle Cardigan
Throw over lighter-weight or short sleeve tops for both warmth and style. This pointelle cardigan has a lacy texture that adds a touch of femininity and elegance to dressy or casual outfits.
What to Add:
The Piece to Start With: Lace Sleeve Cardigan
Elie Tahari Merino Wool Blend Button Front Collared Cardigan with Lace Sleeves ($60 at TJ Maxx)
This sweater can be worn buttoned or open or with a few buttons unbuttoned over a colored cami or tank, and with jeans or dress pants.
What to Add:
The Piece to Start With: Ribbed V-Neck Sweater
Accent with a patterned scarf, short necklace, or blazer, and wear with skinny jeans, dress pants, or a flared skirt.
What to Add:
The Piece to Start With: Bootcut Dress Pants
These pants pair with almost any kind of colorful print or solid shirt or sweater. They are a sleek enough silhouette to balance either a slim, fitted top, or a loose-fitting jacket or sweater. Pair with a sleek leather bag.
What to Add:
Liz Claiborne Gracie Pointed Toe Cone Heel Pumps ($20 at JC Penney)
The Piece to Start With: Khaki Ankle Pants
Pair with a basic solid tee or any fitted top for a casual, comfortable look, with a practical, casual crossbody bag. For a more tapered version of this look, check out these
Slim Fit Sailor Cropped Pants ($15 at TJ Maxx).
