Spring 2025 Fashions for Teen Girls

Since I've written about spring clothes for women, and spring clothes for men, it seems only right that I should write about spring fashions for younger people, as well. Let's start with teen girls - what's cool and in for them this season? The stores I looked at included Forever 21, H&M, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Old Navy, Aeropostale, and JC Penney (Juniors department). Also, as a mom of a 13-year-old girl, I have avoided admittedly trendy super-cropped and/or super-tight tops, open backs, and (in my opinion) inappropriately short skirts. But I think this link shows that you can be cute and trendy without having to wear clothes that are tight or revealing!

Jeans in all silhouettes and rises are huge this season. Slim-hipped juniors are among the few people who look great in low-rise jeans, like these low-rise flare jeans ($35 at Forever 21) in dark denim. Teens love to pair low-cut jeans with a crop top or babydoll tee, but you can encourage them to cover up a bit more by adding a cute pastel cardigan and matching strappy wedge sandals.

For young women with curvier figures, relaxed fit and barrel jeans are a great look. Opt for these Curve Love high rise loose jean ($77 at Abercrombie & Fitch) in medium wash, with a pastel loose cropped sweater, a wide brown leather belt, and brown Sketchers or sandals (even women should generally match their shoes and belt).

For a still more-casual feel, check out this low-rise baggy wide leg cargo jean ($65 at Aeropostale) in light wash. Top with a cropped zip-front hoodie in a pale color over a bright tank or cami and pair with sneakers, either the new trend of sleek sneakers or the recent favorite platform sneakers.

In addition to jeans, fashionable jersey sweatpants, including these wide-leg joggers ($20 at H&M) in light gray melange are popular with the middle- and high-school set. Fuller bottoms look best with sleeker tops (and vice versa), so wear these with a fitted jersey or ribbed tee and classic Keds

Floral prints with a single color on a cream background are everywhere, as evidenced in this cute high-waisted floral ruffled flippy skort ($24 at Aeropostale) in cream. It's short, but since it's secretly a skort, she won't show more than she means to. Pair it with a notch-neck tee or a barely-cropped long-sleeve top and (trust me on this) her favorite high-top Chuck Taylors

One of the big trends I'm seeing for juniors this season is cherry and berry prints, such as this tie-back v-neck top ($43 at Abercrombie & Fitch) in cherry pattern. Pair this fitted top with any cut of jeans (see above), with a red flounced miniskirt, or with gray wide-leg pants. Other tops in a similar print include this ribbed button-down lettuce-edge top ($14 at Old Navy) and an easy berry graphic off-the-shoulder sweater ($29 at Hollister).

Babydoll style tops are huge this spring, whether fitted to the (cropped) waist, or loose and flared like this easy flutter sleeve babydoll top ($29 at Hollister) in white/blue pattern. Shoulders can often be worn either up or off-the shoulder. Flared styles like this look best with slimmer cut jeans or an athletic-cut skirt or skort. With jeans, pair with ballet flats; with a more athletic bottom go for white canvas sneakers

This similarly-cut voile button-through blouse ($35 at Hollister) in butter yellow has an elasticized back and elastic-edge sleeves to give it a sleeker, more tailored silhouette that works with barrel-waisted ankle jeans and A-line print skirts. Pair either pants or skirt with colorful flat slides

For teens with a less "girly" aesthetic, opt for a collection of retro graphic tees like this Fraggle Rock tee crew neck short sleeve graphic tee shirt ($20 at JC Penney). Other logos include PokemonCare Bears, and the Smurfs. Pair with any style jeans or joggers (see above), and complete the retro vibe with colorful old-school high-top sneakers

In the same way that a skort looks like a skirt but adds a degree of modesty, rompers look like dresses but avoid "wardrobe malfunctions". This eyelet scoop-neck romper ($25 at Aeropostale) in pink is a great example, with a flattering wide elasticized empire waist and a double-ruffle "skirt". Pair with a cropped denim jacket and coordinating denim bag, plus pretty much any kind of footwear (except Crocs).

For a more demure but still pretty and feminine look, go for a maxi dress like this chiffon ruffle rose maxi dress ($40 at Forever 21) in ivory/multi, with ruffled straps, a wide v-neck, and a flared skirt. The only accessories it needs are a delicate necklace and strappy low heel sandals

A similar floral print dress, this on/off-the-shoulder drop-waist dress ($60 at Hollister) in white floral has a shorter hem that gives it a more casual feel. Add a soft wrap and ballet flats (or, let's be real, she'll want to wear pink Chucks) for a school dance, or go casual with a cute cardigan and platform slides

Now go take her shopping!
